Tell the world

Chronological One Year Bible Reading Plan: Ruth 3-4

Scripture of the Day: Romans 10:13-15

When you first heard about the Lord Jesus, surely, someone must have told you about Him. It can be from your parents, the church, a friend, and yes, even through mass media.

You would not be able to know unless you have heard, or maybe read. You couldn’t hear nor read if nobody proclaimed, spoke, shared, or wrote. The point is, it entailed someone sharing to someone.

The gist of all the gospels is that, man sinned, which separated him from God. However, God sent His own Son to redeem the world from sin. All those who repent of their sins, and put their trust in Jesus, the Son of God, for their salvation, will be saved.

We wouldn’t know this, however, unless we have heard it from somebody. Since the time of the New Testament church, the spread of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ takes place by word of mouth and testimony. We hear it from someone who has heard it from someone, and the chain goes on. If we, as receivers of the gospel would stop proclaiming it further, how can the next generation know? Who is it that is going to tell them?

It is just like the chain letters or e-mails you receive in your mailbox. It tells you to forward it to a certain number of people. Otherwise, bad luck will befall you. The big difference is that, with the gospel, there is no threat nor reprimand. It is also not a hoax. It is a truth that needs to be passed on. If it is not passed on, no bad luck will befall you. You, however, lose the opportunity of helping someone be saved. On the other hand, if you share it, if that person believes and receives, you help save somebody. That, pleases God!

We as receivers of the gospel need to pass it along to others. We are part of the chain. If we truly believe what we believe and know in our hearts that Jesus saves, how then, could we not joyfully proclaim it to those who have not yet heard, believed and received?

Reflection: Have you ever felt apprehensive sharing about Jesus, and how He has changed your life? It may help you, if you think of this: when you were initially told, you may or may have not instantly believed. But you did! So, whether the person would accept or not, it’s up to him. The Holy Spirit will do His work. The only part you need to play is this: tell the world. The rest, is not up to you!

Prayer: Father, please give me the courage and boldness to proclaim the good news of salvation. Thank you for pulling me out from my former life and bringing me back to you. I am grateful for the people you have placed in my life to tell me about you. Enable me to do the same for others. Amen.
