Be louder than the noise
Chronological One Year Bible Reading Plan: Exodus 24-25
Scripture of the Day: John 14:25-27
It is difficult to cancel out the noise around us, especially in this era wherein technology rules. One is never without an electronic gadget, a laptop or cellphone. We hardly ever withdraw from catching up on what’s going on in our surroundings. We always want to be in the know of the latest happenings and the latest news.
Be it at home, in school or work, there would always be some sort of noise that would get and hold our attention. This leads us to sometimes no longer feel tranquility and peace of mind.
It is, however, possible to remain sane and keep one’s inner peace. If we set a specific moment of quietness to ourselves each day, we would be able to free up our minds and maintain a sense of peace within us.
I remember when I was still at a former work place, one of my senior colleagues called my name while she was talking to our other colleagues, and said, “Please come here!“ I came to her and asked, “Why?“. She replied with, “Nothing. When you’re near we feel peace!“ I just laughed.
But thinking about it now, if we have peace within us, if our self isn’t wrestling with raging thoughts that creates stress, that peace would radiate through us.
There is one way to promote this kind of peace. Spending time with God in prayer and meditation would not only allow us a special quiet time. Being with the Prince of Peace would enable us to soak in His peace and trust that despite living in a world full of noise, it is still possible to have peace (Isaiah 9:6; 2 Thessalonians 3:16). Jesus promised us this peace. Let our hearts not be troubled.
Let your peace speak louder! Be louder than the noise, by harboring peace.

Reflection: Do you have a hard time falling asleep at night sometimes, due to thoughts running crazily in your mind? Have you tried handing all these noise in your head to the Prince of Peace?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, grant me the serenity of heart despite all the noise surrounding me. You are Lord over my thoughts, my heart, my soul. Thank you for the peace that you constantly give me. You are ever gracious. Amen.
