His eyes

Chronological One Year Bible Reading Plan: Isaiah 43-44

Scripture of the Day: Genesis 16:13

The eyes are the window to the soul. Haven’t we heard of that many times? However much used up that statement might be, its truth still resonates.

For instance, an exhausted person would have tired-looking eyes. In contrast, someone filled with joy over something would have gleaming and dancing eyes. You can be tired, joyful, anxious, angry, and all other things. These, you can cover up with how you act. Nonetheless, oftentimes, the eyes do not deceive. They are there to reveal the truth.

As people, our emotions and innermost secrets and struggles show through our eyes. They vary according to where we are at the moment. That’s how it works for mostly everybody’s eyes. But not the Lord’s.

God’s eyes are constant, just like Him. They never alter their expression of love and compassion for us, His people. If His eyes are on the sparrow (Matthew 6:25-27), they surely fall on you too!

Life is hard. Oftentimes, no matter how we try to evade challenges and difficulties, they always smack us right in the face. We may even get to the point of hopelessness, thinking the situation would never change. But do you remember Hagar? While at the desert, desperate for her and her son’s survival as they were vanished by Sarah, she realized that despite what has happened, God never took His eyes off from them. She declares, “You are El Roi, the God who sees me!”

Your situation may be extremely difficult. But, El Roi!

Reflection: Fret not over things you have no control of. God has it and He sees you.

Prayer: Father, thank you that your eyes are cast on me. I know that my current situation appears to have a no way out. Nonetheless, I trust you and I know you never take your eyes off from me. Amen.
