Sacrilege

is calling myself a Christian
but not living like one.

It is not the desecration
of a building and the so-called
holy objects within it.

It is the corruption
of my body,
the temple of
God‘s Spirit.

It is not the blasphemy
of religion.

It is the defamation
of Christ.
For Christ
is my religion.

It is not the defilement
of tradition
and doctrines.

It is the depravation
of the sacrifice
of Christ on the cross
for me.

Sacrilege
is not touching
holy things
and making them
unholy.

Sacrilege
is not touching
unholy things
and making them holy.

Jesus touched the leper.
Jesus touched the adulterer.
Jesus touched the tax collector.

And they were healed.
And they were changed.
And they were set free.

Sacrilege
is calling myself a Christian
and not having compassion
for those who are lost.

Sacrilege
is calling myself a Christian
and remaining soaked up
in a senseless pool
of religion
and tradition
and laws
Long abolished
by Christ
on the cross
of His love.

Sacrilege
is calling myself a Christian
and thinking of myself
holy
and in all circumstances
able
because of my good works
when I am very much
in need of saving
and a Savior.

“For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. So you are ignorant of the very thing you worship—and this is what I am going to proclaim to you.“
Acts 17:23

To an UNKNOWN GOD
