Scooters of life
Chronological One Year Bible Reading Plan: 2 Kings 5-8
Scripture of the Day: James 1:2-4
In the city where I currently live, one would find e-scooters all over the place. They are at bus stops, side walks and major streets. People pick them up to rent and they could just be dropped off anywhere. They start at one point taking the scooter and stop to leave it behind someplace else.
In life, we often scoot from one place to another. For instance, we discover an interesting activity, pick it up and make it a hobby. If it does not interest us anymore, we get bored and leave it behind. That is absolutely not a problem. However, when it comes to bigger things in life, we often overlook how easily we sometimes give up.
When we are working on a project and it appears to be progressing rather slowly, we give up and put it aside. We tell ourselves that we cannot do it. We declare that it is too hard and unattainable. We proclaim within us that we are never good enough for it, or vice versa, that it is anyway, not good for us.
If God gives us a vision, He would never leave us to do it alone. He walks with us in that vision. He walks us through that vision. When we have taken that vision and acted upon it, we should not abandon it all too easily. In the first place, if it really is from the Lord, He will see to it that it comes to pass. However long it takes on your side, it shall and it will happen.
Naturally, since the enemy opposes our every move that has got to do with doing God’s will in and for our lives, we would be constantly under attack if we follow that vision. Nonetheless, God would not give us a vision and not provide us with whatever we need to fulfill it.
When I was 15, I came across a quotation from an anonymous author. It says, “Never tear down anything unless you can build something better in its place.“
Unless you have something better in mind than what God has planned out for you, which I am doubtful of, never lose nor give up that vision. Work on it, albeit slowly, steadily. The Lord is not in the habit of abandoning us, especially when we are carrying out an assignment. He will sustain you.

Reflection: Have you ever gone the route of “trying something on“ only to drop it off after sometime because you have gotten bored of it, or exhausted trying to make it work? If it is the will of God for you, it does not mean that it would be devoid of challenges. On the contrary, you would most probably find more hardships along the way. Nonetheless, you will always find joy and peace in what you do because the Lord is with you.
Prayer: Father, make me steadfast in fulfilling the vision you have laid out before me. I know you will never abandon me to be doing things on my own. I am grateful. Amen.
