Sowing bountifully
Chronological One Year Bible Reading Plan: Ecclesiastes 6-12
Scripture of the Day: 2 Corinthians 9:6
“He sows sparingly will also reap sparingly; but he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.“
I have recently planted mustard seeds. They haven’t fully grown yet. However, looking at the seedlings that I have so far, I could already imagine how true those aforementioned words are. In the pots where I have sown the seeds bountifully, the seedlings that sprouted are also comparably thicker than in those pots where I have sown seeds in quite a notable distance from each other.
The more seeds one sows would definitely lead to plentiful harvest later. In contrast, if the seeds sown were not that much, one cannot expect to see a lot of seedlings sprouting.
We often tend to think though, that sowing in God’s kingdom only refers to the financial contribution that we make. This is far from true. Sowing does not only pertain to finances. It also includes one’s time, other resources apart from monetary, as well as talents and skills. If we make use of any of these to invest in someone else’s life, we are building something up which goes beyond a lifetime on earth. Seeds sown in this manner last until eternity.
It is a typical misconception that just because you may not be financially well-off, that you do not have enough to give. In fact, those who actually feel that what they have to give does not suffice, are the ones who give out of the abundance of their hearts. On their spare time, they seek others who are in need of encouragement, a simple motivation, or even just checking in on someone how they are doing. To be able to genuinely care and give off someone’s precious time is a manner of sowing seeds in the kingdom.
Some sow seeds through prayer. Those who offer up intercession, taking time to pray for others sow seeds in the kingdom by ensuring that others are covered in prayer. Prayer is a powerful weapon. If finances are a practical way to sow seeds into a ministry, sending many missionaries into the mission field, prayer is the spiritual counterpart of it. Prayer sends embolden missionaries into the field.
No matter what we do to accomplish God’s plan in this world, we are sowing seeds. The harvest would always depend on how much or how little we sow.

Reflection: In what ways are you able to sow seeds into God’s kingdom?
Prayer: Lord, please show me ways to sow seeds both in practical and spiritual manner. Thank you for opportunities you lead me into so that I could invest in somebody’s life. Amen.
