Chronological One Year Bible Reading Plan: Psalm 139-143
Scripture of the Day: Psalm 139
God created man in His image and likeness (Genesis 1:27). This means that man is made in the image of God in his moral, spiritual, and intellectual nature. This makes man stand out over all of God’s creation. Within each instance of finishing a work of His hand in the creation narrative, God would look at His work and say that it is good (Genesis 1:10, 12, 18, 25). However, in the finality of building His works of art, on the sixth day, after He made man, God looked at His work – everything He had made and exclaimed, “It is very good!” (Genesis 1:31).
These works of art altogether, were made so that God may be glorified (Revelation 4:11). Being the final piece of all the works, man is God’s masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10). To add to that, man, who fell into sin, has been purchased by the blood of God’s only Son, Jesus (1 Corinthians 6:20).
It shouldn’t be surprising therefore, that God cares for you and me in unfathomable ways. He knows everything there is to know about us. He even knows the things we bury deep in our hearts that we often do not even recognize in ourselves and about ourselves. He knows our greatest, as well as our darkest deeds and desires. He knows all of our thoughts – even before we could conceive them in our mind. Despite all these, however, God continues to love us. In fact, He is always mindful of man (Psalm 8:4).
Sometimes, there would be people who come your way, including loved ones, who could mistreat and belittle you. Negative words could be spoken against you, messing up the way you see yourself. You may come to a point where you feel worthless, unloved, and unwanted. This is a lie that the devil tries to perpetuate in your mind. On the contrary, the truth is, God finds you worthy to create you in His image and likeness. In fact, He loves as well as wants you so much that He purchased you back to become His again, with the life of His Son.
You are God’s unique masterpiece!

Reflection: In life, there will be times when you would be in a situation that would lead you to think that you are of no value. This is the greatest lie that the enemy has fabricated! You are loved by God. You would always be loved by God. He may not always be pleased by your wandering away, but His love for you never changes.
Prayer: I thank and glorify you, God, my Father, for creating me to be in the likeness of you. Though sinful, you love me just the same. Whether in good times, or in bad times, help me to remember that. Amen.
