Restoration
Chronological One Year Bible Reading Plan: Joshua 16-19
Scripture of the Day: 1 Peter 5:10
It is rather a common sight to see buildings like churches, being closed off with a net for renovation purposes. Old and historical buildings are maintained and cared for this way. Most of the time though, the restoration process does not involved the entire building at a time. Only one part at a time is restored. For instance, it can be the tower, the spires, the windows or the roof.
Certainly, God has the power to restore something immediately and from a completely dilapidated state to something like new again. However, for us people, the work of God in restoring us from abandonment, rejection, or abuse takes time. It is gradual. As our deep hurts and pain are peeled off and revealed to us one by one, our healing and restoration also comes layer for layer. It is a gradual process which takes time. For if, just like a building, the renovations are rushed, it might be overwhelming for us. We just have to take into account that the Lord knows what He’s doing. Everything comes in a matter of time. For that, we have to trust Him.
In the same way, while trusting Him, we need to welcome and accept the process. Healing the pain has the possibility of incurring more pain, especially if it is deep. Cracks on building facades aren’t just being filled. They are sanded so that when they are filled and patched, they are restored with renewed strength to hold on for many more years to come.
If you are awaiting your healing and restoration, remain steadfast. The one who created you definitely knows how to restore you to new beginnings.

Reflection: The journey through healing and restoration is a tough road. However, if you have set foot on the journey, just keep on walking and moving. Never ever turn back. The difficulty of getting there is of the same as it would entail quitting and heading back.
Prayer: Lord, there is no amount of pain I could ever suffer that you aren’t able to heal me of. Allow my heart to open up to your healing love. Restore me and make me new. Amen.
