A Day-by-day devotional
Great I Am
March 23, 2023
Chronological One Year Bible Reading Plan: Joshua 13-15
Scripture of the Day: Exodus 3:1-15
When somebody you meet for the first time asks for your name, you give them your first name. In formal situations, you tell them your surname. It is not until you become more acquainted or build a friendship that you would reveal to them your nickname. Nicknames are reserved for family and close friendships. Most of the time, however, nicknames reveal a part of your story, your life and who you are.
In Mount Horeb, Moses asked God at the burning bush, “What shall I tell the Israelites about you? What shall I say when they ask me your name?” God replied, “I am who I am”.Moses asked for His name. He would have awaited something like, “I am Mr. God”.Instead, God replied with a revelation of His nature. God told Moses about His being, His existence!
When Yahweh said, “I am..” He wanted to let us know that He is…
Elohim (The strong creator God)
El Elyon (God most high)
El Shaddai (God almighty)
El Roi (God who sees)
Jehovah Jireh (the Lord will provide)
Jehovah Nissi (the Lord our banner)
Jehovah Shalom (the Lord our peace)
Jehovah Rapha (the Lord our healer)
Jehovah Shammah (the Lord is present)
Let us acknowledge who He is! He who is above all. He who has the power to heal. He who has the power over the storm and the raging seas. He who is our very present help in times of need. He who is the Great I Am.

Reflection: You may be struggling about who God really is to you. Think about a situation in your life recently where you invited Him and He has not been in it. Have you been sick? Depressed? In financial problem? Who has been your constant aid and comforter? He is our all in all!
Prayer: Lord, whenever I need you, you are always there. When I cry out for help you answer. Thank you Lord for being my great God. Thank you for revealing yourself to me in more ways than one. Amen.
