Reignite
Chronological One Year Bible Reading Plan: Joshua 6-9
Scripture of the Day: Isaiah 55: 1-3
You may be in a season where you feel that your spiritual life is running low.
In seeking to reignite it, you would need fresh perspectives and revelations from God. Sometimes, all it takes is changing the way you do and approach things. For instance, if you are used to reading your bible quietly to yourself, why not try reading it out loud?
There is a practice called Lectio Divina, a Latin term which means divine reading. It is a meditative way of reading the bible, preferably out loud, where you would listen for God’s voice in Scripture. In it, the aim is to let go of our own agenda and open our hearts to what the Spirit of the Lord is speaking to us at the present moment through His Word. When we read the bible out loud, passages, verses or words would stand out to us. It is those parts that stand out that we would then meditate and reflect on.
Through this practice, we allow ourselves to be drenched in the living Word that is more than able to jump with life before us. Meditating on God’s Word in this way opens an avenue for our life story to meet up with, be molded, and be integrated into God’s story. Certainly, in conjunction with our faith that God speaks to us in our current situation, we would hear what He has to say.
In addition, the bible scholar NT Wright suggested in one of his podcasts how helpful it is to find a new and different translation of the bible that you have not used before to catch the fire once more. If you set yourself to read it with delight, like you would a novel, it just might take you to somewhere new you have never been to. Also, it could give you insights you never understood before.
Through these, your spiritual life is revived and your fire reignited. Don’t lose the spark!

Reflection: The Lord is faithful to show Himself to you, if you seek Him with all your heart. The bible is the most accessible instrument to hearing God’s heartbeat.
Prayer: Dear God, I know that the more I seek you, the more it is that I find you. Through your Holy Spirit, send fresh and new revelation to me. Breathe upon me and reignite my soul as I hunger and thirst for you. Amen.
