Solar Light
Chronological One Year Bible Reading Plan: Numbers 21-22
Scripture of the Day: Luke 10: 38-42
Our solar system revolves around the sun. And on our planet, earth, the sun serves as the main source of energy, and ultimately, life. Plants need sunlight to grow. In turn, animals, and human beings as well, depend on plants for food and oxygen.
Solar energy is also known to provide power to watches, calculators, photovoltaic system, and solar lamps, among others. If you own a solar lamp, the intensity of the light it produces would be equivalent to the number of hours it has been exposed to the sun and how strong the light it received had been.
The more time we spend with the source of light, the more intense our light becomes. Remember the sisters Martha and Mary? Martha wanted to serve the Lord by offering her services. Meanwhile, Mary just wants to sit at the feet of her teacher. And Jesus told them that both actions are commendable. Nonetheless, what Mary displayed is preferable.
If you are a student, you would want to spend as much time as you could with your teacher. You listen eagerly, watch him with observant eyes. You soak yourself in his presence. When you do that, the amount of knowledge you incur increases.
Mary is a solar lamp. She basked in the presence of her teacher, taking in as much as she could. In doing so, she did exactly what Jesus thinks is the better way.
Spend time in the Lord’s presence. Draw near to God and He shall draw near to you! (James 4:8)
Reflection: If you rub elbows with someone who happens to be wearing a very exquisite perfume, you definitely would have the possibility of acquiring the scent, in your own body. Would you want to smell the same way like Jesus? Bask in His presence! Capture His light and let it be reflected through you.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for your light. Make me a Mary as I draw nearer to you. Amen.
