Painting
Chronological One Year Bible Reading Plan: Numbers 19-20
Scripture of the Day: Psalm 37:4-6
When you visit an art museum, sometimes, there are life-size paintings. When you stand really close to the painting, you would see a very detailed albeit narrow view of the entire painting. However, if you want to appreciate what story the painting conveys, you would need to step further away from the painting. The farther you step back, the wider your view of the painting becomes.
Life is mostly like a huge painting. You only get to see the part that you’re living real time. We may have a glimpse into the future, but that would be just a tiny little piece of the artwork.
God only allows us you to see the part of your life which contains the current situation you are dealing with. You see the details. After all, you are living the details. Nevertheless, you would never be able to understand the story behind the painting, of, for example, a bunch of flowers on the field, if you only get to see a petal or two of the flower in the middle.
God enables you to see only bits and pieces of what will happen to your life, but not the entirety of your future because He doesn’t want to overwhelm you. If you get to see the whole picture, you might not be able to put your trust in Him, and allow Him to direct you. What He wants is for you to depend on Him for guidance, with each step.
The longer your journey becomes, the more steps you take to be able to see the entire painting. Do not rush. There’s always a time for everything. One thing at a time, and all things in succession. Allow God to work in your life, in His time.

Reflection: Even when you hardly see the big plans of God for your future, trust that He would reveal them to you in bits and pieces as you move through your journey in life. You don’t have to understand everything. Just have faith and trust.
Prayer: Teach me Lord, to trust in you with every part of present and future. My life is your artwork. Give me faith that you would reveal details of it to me, according to your will and purpose. Amen.
