What’s in a Name?
Chronological One Year Bible Reading Plan: Genesis 32-35
Scripture of the Day: Exodus 3:1-15
In Mount Horeb, Moses asked God at the burning bush, “What shall I tell the Israelites about you? What shall I say when they ask me your name?”
God replied, “I am who I am”.
Moses asked for His name, waiting for God to provide him with some typical name that we know of – probably the kind with a first and last name.
However, instead of that, God told him about His being, His existence!
When Yahweh said, “I am..” He wanted to let us know that He is…
Elohim (The strong creator God) Genesis 1:1
El Elyon (God most high) Psalm 57:2
El Shaddai (God almighty) Genesis 17:1
El Roi (God who sees) Genesis 16
Jehovah Jireh (the Lord will provide) Genesis 22:14
Jehovah Nissi (the Lord our banner) Exodus 17:15
Jehovah Shalom (the Lord our peace) Judges 6:24
Jehovah Rapha (the Lord our healer) Exodus 15:26
Jehovah Shammah (the Lord is present) Ezekiel 48:35
Let us acknowledge who He is! He who has the power to heal. He who has the power over the storm and the raging seas. He who is our very present help in times of need.

Reflection: God is all to us that which we could ever think and imagine Him to be. He is the God who can do anything and everything. The question is, do you believe and trust Him to be so, despite the circumstances?
Prayer: El Elyon, you are overwhelmingly gracious and good! Thank you for being my God. Thank you for being my everything. Amen.
