I have always loved Piglet. He´s small, and brave, and pink, and he loves bears (well, at least, one called Pooh) – sort of like me.

Piglet has been very brave when he met a Heffalump despite of thoughts that he is not brave enough.

“It is hard to be brave,” said Piglet, sniffling slightly, “when you’re only a Very Small Animal.”

Sometimes we tend to think a little bit too lowly of ourselves. That´s the problem.

Nonetheless, I would like to think that I am brave, just like Piglet. What makes this complicated though is when I have to face something of which I know a little bit more of what I should, I guess. Like right now. I am feeling rather brave, but having worked at the Anesthesiology Department (yes, the section responsible for research on the brain and anesthetics) of a hospital and having taken part in neurological research (sensory nerve endings and stuff) for four years gets in the way of my “braving“ this thing. So okay, it is only  an osteoma removal under general anesthesia. We have the best surgeons in town, that, I am very sure of. Still, a tiny part of the “little“ me within the small me is apprehensive and refuses to embrace the Piglet in me.

But then, I remembered. I might have a Piglet to “brave this through“ but this Piglet will not be enough. That, however, is not a problem. Because I have something, or someone greater than my Piglet. He´s called Holy Spirit.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear,

but of POWER

and of LOVE

and of a SOUND MIND.

(2 Timothy 1:7)

I am braving this, knowing that the strength I have when facing difficulties is not mine, but the Lord´s. After all, Jesus is my happy place!

I wrote the following sometime in 2013 – a sweet reminder that my “ALL IN ALL“ has everything under control.

With that, this coming Monday, I will be very ready to “brave it”.
